Project Overview
A Darker Christmas is an original art exhibition that highlights the many mental health conditions exacerbated by the holiday. Through the work of 18 local artists who are born or based in the South West, we have created an artistic exploration of the hidden horrors that lurk at Christmas, collaborating with many local and national charities to create a safe space for discussion. It is not intended to take the fun out of Christmas, but rather to remind the most fortunate among us that some of our nearest and dearest friends might have cause to suffer. And for those who are in pain, we aim to make it clear they are not alone.
Project Goals
The purpose of this exhibition is twofold:
- To raise awareness of mental health conditions that are exacerbated at Christmas, and
- To promote the work of local artists, giving them a platform to build their networks
